What I'm Saying...

“i’m watching you”

Those of you who read Mister’s blog know that we have a number of huge life changes in the works - to be sure you are all clear, we did NOT decide to breed, but the changes are big.

One of the tasks we had to check of the list of “To-Do’s” is getting finger print cards. Really makes it sound mysterious, huh? We went to get this done last week. We had to go to the PO-lice station and have a really nice dective rub our fingers in ick. He told me it was important not to help at all, so I was really good at getting finger printed.

The followong day, we arrived home from work and in the mail we received two very important documents that are directly related to the “Big Change.” We broke open the champange and called the Fam to tell ‘em the news. Then we decided to go out for Mexican (ironic to those of you who don’t find this post to by mysterious) at a new resturant in the City of Presidents.

We got there and the place was HOPPING! It was great to see it really rocking in there. We take our seats and I took a look around and who do I see? Our Nice dective! Because I have no couth, I immediately swing my head to Mister say “there is our finger print dective” while simultanously pointing in his direction. Like all good dectives should, he had already spotted and recognized us. So, when I swung my head back around, he made the “Meet the Parents” I am watching you move with the fingers to the eyes and point. It was so funny and just another good sign that Mister and I have made the right life decision.

Save the trees!

I am, deep down inside, a bit of a tree hugger.

Today, I arrived to my cage in the pasture to a change in scenery. I walked into my office and turned on the lights, but the lighting angles were different. I looked up, but there was nothing wrong there.

I am slow in the morning, so it took me a minute or two to compute the fact that my office is not darker, it is brighter.

I still couldn’t place it, and then I sat down at my computer and noticed a glare on my monitor. Finally, it occured to me that something may have happened outside my window.

Turning around to face the freedom on the other side of the glass, it seemed that the scenery had changed. Upon closer inspection, I realized that THREE trees outside my suite of cages had been removed over the weekend.

This is not the first time that this has happened to me. When I lived in the perch above the Green Line, the same thing happened. It was a far worse episode there though. The tree that were removed from outside my perch were VERY large and old, and it was so sad. The rest of my birds in the perch suite and I put up signs to “Save the Trees.” Super corny, but fun. It took one day and about six men to remove probably one hundred years of nature’s work. These trees had probably endured the entire industrial revolution only to be removed to widen some sewers for a new dorm.

Nice, real nice.

I have to admit that I have had trees removed from my yard, but the tree I had removed was dead, and the ants were eating it from the inside out. It was sad to do, but it is hard to let a tree naturally decompose in the city. I would have loved to allow it to turn into rich mulch, but alas, that was not possible.

Why did They take the trees away from outside my cage? Was it to make me hate my work day more than I already do?
