Grumpy White’s
Grumpy White’s Restaurant
211 Sea Street
Quincy, MA 02169

Those of you that know me, know that I absolutely love Grumpy White’s. It’s a great little restaurant and bar with a lot of Quincy feel… Even after the recent remodel. Grumpy’s is a place where the servers remember you, the food is good, the servings hearty, and the great burgers are not the only thing on the menu worth stopping in for. Don’t let their scary menu item photos mislead you
At the heart of the Grumpy Burger is a half-pound ground beef patty cooked to order on an indoor grill for that real back yard BBQ grilled flavor that only open flames can provide. They’ll cook it up to your preference, which is a big plus in my book, especially considering they know how to work that grill.
There are several options for their burger and cheeseburger, but my favorite combo is a Grumpy Cheeseburger, rare, with bacon and garlic. Now they use real bacon, and the garlic option just takes the burger to the next level of decadence. So what’s the garlic option? Well, they take your bun, slather it in garlic and butter, and toss it on the griddle until it’s like a tasty little piece of garlic bread. Oh man, my mouth is watering just typing that description.
They always offer lettuce, tomato, and onions, but I always pass… This is a real carnivore burger, no need for rabbit food on this one.
Along with your burger you get some really killer French fries. They’re cooked up in some wicked hot oil, resulting in an uber crispy fry that stays crispy, but still has that nice soft potato center. Even when you dose them in a side of Grumpy’s killer gravy as I love to do. Yes friends, we’re talking about a heart attack meal here, but damn it’s good.
And to wash your tasty burger down? Well they have a full bar, but my choice is their large draft beer, as you get a giant 24 oz. draft Sam Adams for only $3. If non-alcoholic beverages are your speed, I’d recommend their raspberry lime-rickies. Damn good.
Last year we had some friends come to visit from Arizona. Now, life in the desert doesn’t generally include such hearty meals, so we thought it would be a treat to take them to a place that I consider a quintessential Quincy experience. So we brought them to Grumpy’s for lunch. Well, after lunch at Grumpy’s, they were knocked out… They needed a nap, and damn near a day to recuperate. We now have a name for this all to familiar post-Grumpy’s delirium: Grumpified.
So, over all I give the Grumpy Burger a rating of four burgers:

Go and get yourself Grumpified!
